Implementation of Bank Negara Malaysia’s New Cheque Truncation and Conversion System (CTCS)

Implementation of Bank Negara Malaysia's New Cheque Truncation and Conversion System (CTCS)
We would like to inform that Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) will be implementing a new Cheque Truncation and Conversion System (CTCS) by the middle of 2008. Customers will benefit from this new system as all cheques deposited at any bank branch will be processed as local cheques.
The implementation of BNM’s new CTCS will require changes to the following:-
• The issuance of a new design on cheques (dimension 7” x 3.5”) to enable the CTCS to electronically process the cheque successfully
• Company stamp/chop/personal seal will NOT be allowed or required on cheques.
We are pleased to advise that Maybank will be implementing these revised guidelines with effect from 1 July 2007 to enable our customers to adapt to the changes and minimise any inconvenience when the CTCS is implemented.
In this regard, kindly take note of the following changes with effect from 1 July 2007:
• Applications for cheque books submitted from 1 July 2007 will be issued the new standardised cheque leaves.
• For those with existing Maybank cheque books, the cheques can still be used and will be accepted for processing until 30 June 2008. Customers are however reminded not to stamp the Company chop/personal seal on the cheque leaves.
• Cheques presented will be verified and processed regardless of Company stamp/chop/personal seal on the cheque.
