Padang Serai MP Gobalakrishnan fined RM3,000, could lose seat

GEORGE TOWN: Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishnan risks losing his parliamentary seat, after he was fine RM3,000 for obstructing a police officer eight years ago.

His appeal for a stay of execution was rejected by the magistrate's court Friday.

Gobalakrishnan was found guilty of obstructing Chief Inspector V. Saravanan at 12.20am, at Jalan Utama here, on Jan 29,2002.

The charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a maximum sentence two years' jail and a fine of RM10,000.
