2008 Hyundai HE-5 Concept

These are the first sketches of Hyundai's concept for the Geneva Motor Show. It's called the HED-5, which means its the fifth product to come from the Hyundai European Design division of the Korean firm.

Little else is known, but it's a six-seat minivan that "promises a new level of versatility combined with exceptional fuel economy", according to Hyundai. The materials used and features have been developed in co-operation with partners including Recaro, Bayer, and LG

1.2009 Toyota LF-A Roadster

The Lexus supercar, the LF-A, is going topless. In one of the rare surprises to sneak past our auto show spies, TheCarConnection.com has learned Toyota 's luxury division will be rolling out a roadster version of the carbon-fiber and aluminum sports car concept vehicle.



Like the concept coupe, that debuted last year, the LF-A Roadster will be powered by a high-revving, 5.0-liter V-10 reportedly producing in excess of 500 horsepower, and pushing either version of the LF-A to somewhere in excess of 200 mph.

2.2008 Mitsubishi Concept-RA

The Concept in fact uses the Evo's twin-clutch transmission, but teams it not to a turbo four but to a 2.2-liter turbodiesel four with variable valve lift, timing, and direct injection. The engine puts out 202 hp and uses a new catalytic converter to meet stringent U.S. diesel emission regulations.

A six-speed manual is standard-equipment for Europe, but all U.S. models get the available six-speed S tronic DSG gearbox - which shifts faster than a standard automatic transmission - cuts the zero-to-62-mph time by two tenths of a second. In place of a regular windscreen is a "saut-vent" (French for a "sudden change in wind") which divides the cabin in two, a design feature that harkens back to classic single-seat racing cars. While this design may hinder conversations with a fellow passenger, it allows for an added air scoop to feed more cool air into the engine. If you need to look out for police behind you, a rear view mirror conveniently and automatically pops up in between the two passenger cabins. And now that the Italian polizia has a Gallardo of its own, that may just come in handy.
