New Ferrari Enzo 599GTB uses V-12 derived from Maranello's ultimate supercar

"This car has the performance impression of an F40, but it's easy to drive," says Felisa. "That was the challenge, to get the driveability. In fact, it's impossible to get one [F40] set up for all conditions like rain, dry, track. So [the 599] has the manettino on the steering wheel."

The original NSX, launched back in 1990, may have forced Ferrari to build better handling, more reliable cars, but Honda reportedly lost money on it. This car is designed to be less expensive to manufacture, although it'll be powered by an all-new V-10 engine, which pays homage to Honda's Formula One effort, although F1 regulations have forced the teams to replace V-10s with V-8s. The rear-drive biased all-wheel-drive platform architecture negates the need to develop an all-new front-engine, rear-drive platform, for example.

Mitsubishi releases first official photos of 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Mitsubishi has released the first official photos of its new Lancer Evolution - the X gets dropped from the name outside of Japan - and while the changes are subtle, there are several differences.
Power for the Evo will come via Mitsubishi's new, cast aluminum block 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with MIVEC variable valve timing (using cam phasing on intake and exhaust) which will reportedly come with 300 horsepower on tap and help move the car from 0-60 in the mid-four second range. Shifting will come through Mitsu's also new dual-clutch six-speed automated manual with magnesium paddle shifters -- similar in operation to VW/Audi's much lauded DSG gearbox. A five-speed manual will also be available.

BMW Concept CS

BMW pulled somewhat of a Shanghai Surprise with its latest creation, a Gran Turismo-styled vehicle called the Concept CS. Clearly, there's plenty of Bangle in the new design, with flame surfacing and a version of the now famous rear end treatment, along some heritage features such as the return of the 'shark nose' front end. Check out the cut line above the rear fenders, there's a little Dodge Charger in there. BMW says the CS sports potential new design themes which the automaker says signal the next step in what its design language could look like. Should the CS enter production, it would likely slot in as a flagship model above the current 7-Series and would likely be powered by BMW's 6.0-liter V12.

2009 Maserati Coupe
