Expanded SST comes into effect July 1

Aku bg senang kira untuk those that stay in town like me, KL or Penang. I am going to be realistic here, you can find almost no local fruit in your usual supermarket like Lotus because local fruit for some reason almost always sell much more expensive than imported option.

Banana usually imported from Philipines.

Mango, pineapple usually imported from Thailand.

Dragon fruit is from Vietnam.

Dates are imported from Iran or Saudi

So?

Dah mmg cukai adalah sumber utama hasil kewangan negara. Dah tu nk expect PMX cari duit dari mana? Pinjam dari IMF?

Masa gst, yg best nya personal income tax tu reduced.

personal income tax rates were indeed reduced as part of the broader tax reform package.

Here’s how it worked:
✅ GST: A 6% consumption tax replaced the older Sales and Service Tax (SST). The idea was to widen the tax base and reduce dependence on oil revenue.
✅ Personal Income Tax: At the same time, the government reduced personal income tax rates by 1 to 3 percentage points for most tax brackets.
✅ New tax reliefs: They also slightly increased individual and dependent tax reliefs to offset the cost of GST for middle-income households.

Example:
Before GST, the maximum individual income tax rate was 26% — this was lowered to 24% starting from the 2015 assessment year.

👉 Why?
The aim was to make the shift to GST less burdensome by lowering direct taxes (income tax) while collecting more indirect tax (GST) from broader consumption.

If you want, I can show you the exact income tax brackets before and after the change — would you like that?

Mostly those didn't like GST is because of the "paper trail"....susah nak tipu gst
SST anybody can do, there maybe some charging SST without registering with the government....sSST no paper trail, senang nak tipu

So? Dari cukai juga lah kalau dgn re implementing GST.

Majority of fruits are imported! Apples & Oranges also classified as "luxury food"?!😤🤦‍♀️ Even local fruits like banana, mangoes, dragon fruit etc are from nearby countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia also subject to SST?!

SST rate tak sama.. ada 8, ada 10 …mmm... pastu ada e-invoice lagi. Lg naik operating costs. Bikin susah company nak set.
Jika gst, tak perlu e-invoice tu, tak perlu different set up
