Summary story as i remembered

1.
Pre2026, All EV tax free but must be sold above rm100k, unless CKD. This is to protect proton/geely/p2 as they haven't have EV model yet.

2.
Come 2026. With proton/geely launched emas, instead of opening up market, our rich minister Flip that non-CKD EV must be sold above rm250k. Rich ministers can have nice ev, rakyat biasa can't. EV from geely/proton still CBU from china but can below rm250k. Very obvious they gave Geely extra income, don't tell us protect proton as then still rebadge CBU.

3.
To fulfill CKD, much manufacturer confirm setting up the plant in Malaysia. What did MITI do? They impose BYD CKD must sell above rm200k, to export 80% of its manufactured product here and capped at 10000 vehicles. While other manufacturers won't be imposed this ruling cause come "earlier".

After all the Hoo-Haa correctly brought up by public, Putar-Hilim saying BYD-CKD must be above sold "only" above Rm100k, salah quote by theEdge.
The statement includes mentioning that new ev/hybrid pickup are not banned from selling here, just "tak approve". Spewing bullshit 700k people cari makan with proton and p2. Then P2 and its suppliers issued thank you statement for backing up/jaga muka MITI.

5.
Toyota etc just announce new EV hilux, CBU, with really shitty specs as usual from UWM, selling RM220k which is below the RM250k CBU requirement.

Please tell us how is the minister not discriminating and no policy integrity?

sidenotes: we are subsidizing geely for s70 and to maintain local vendors, still they cut off much of the vendors.
