Fed Chair Bernanke is set to address the Senate Banking Committee at 1000EST. His subject will be the long-term fiscal challenges facing the US. A prepared text will be released at the start of his appearance. It's difficult to imagine that this subject can be anything other than dollar negative, so the question is how much will markets react to it overall, given it's long-term, overarching nature. Only if Bernanke comments something along the lines of Greenspans observation that foreign funding of US deficits can't continue forever do we expect to see a major reaction. We look for USD/JPY and JPY-crosses to continue to be the main short-term drivers, with the key now option defense of 121.75 level.
