Jambi intensify joint patrols to prevent forest and land fires

Jambi (ANTARA) - Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob), alongside TNI, Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), and Forest Security (Pamhut) personnel, has intensified joint patrols to prevent forest and land fires in vulnerable areas in the province.

"These efforts involve patrols, field inspections, public outreach, and the extinguishing of hotspots," Jambi Regional Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Erlan Munaji said in Jambi on Thursday.

Personnel from the Jambi Brimob and the forest and land fire task force conducted sweeps across several command posts in Batang Hari, West Tanjung Jabung, and East Tanjung Jabung regencies.

At Command Post 6 (Sridadi Tahura in Batang Hari), officers held a joint police ceremony before patrolling the area and educating residents about the dangers of indiscriminate land burning.

Meanwhile, at Command Post 7 (Pompa Air Village in Batang Hari), personnel extinguished a fire and carried out cooling operations to ensure that no hotspots remained.

Similar patrols took place at Command Post 59 (Suban Village in West Tanjung Jabung) to educate the public as an early prevention measure against forest and land fires.

At Command Post 71 (Berbak in East Tanjung Jabung), officers inspected the site and conducted cooling operations on land belonging to residents of Rawasari Village to ensure safety.

He emphasized that these joint patrols reflect a shared commitment among various agencies to anticipate and prevent forest and land fires in Jambi Province.

"Prevention is the primary step. We urge the public not to burn land and to report any hotspots they find immediately," he said.
