According to Proton managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir at Proton’s PINTAR programme in Kota Baharu yesterday, Proton will be unveiling its new MPV early next year, but declined to reveal any other details about the MPV.

Even how many seats the MPV will have is unknown, but the industry standard for MPVs seem to be either 7 or 11. A 7 seater is more likely as as far as we know Proton doesn’t have a suitable powertrain at the moment to pull 11, but who knows, they might surprise us.

Looking at the previous few Proton models launched, we can probably expect the new MPV to be developed with minimal development costs and have more carryover of components from existing models to improve economies of scale and reduce R&D cost.
