15.10.2009 Forex: EUR/USD: Yesterday's close above 1.4900 adds weight to a long-term rally - Mizuho

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The Euro continues trading higher at a steady pace, as the pair has advanced almost 300 pips during the current week, closing on Thursday at 14-month high , above 1.4900, which, according to Nicole Elliott, senior technical analyst at Mizuho Corporate Bank, adds reasons to think on a long-term rally.

Yesterday's close above 1.4900 increases the possibilities of a long-term rally, says Elliott: "Yesterday’s close above 1.4900 adds weight to our view that we have started the next leg of a long term rally; a weekly close above 1.4800 would confirm. Bullish momentum has increased a little again but the Euro is overbought. "

Resistance levels, according to Elliot lie at 1.4968, 1.500 and 1.5085. On the downside, support levels are 1.4900, 1.4845 and 1.4800.

15.10.2009 Forex: USD/JPY retreats to 90.20 from 2-week high at 90.77

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The Dollar's advance against the Yen from intra-day low at 89.30 has been capped at 2-week high at 90.77 with the pair retreating to trade close to 90.20. Currently the pair is trading around 90.40/50, 1.20% above today's opening price action.

Tomas Cedavicius, analyst at investija.com, comments about the USD/JPY breakout at resistance level initiated sharp movements upside: "USDJPY Very steep movement upside after a breakout of 89.70 resistance level. Long positions is better to look into."

In the fundamental view, Rob Booker, TraderRadio.net's founder, expects the Dollar soaring in the comming months: "Economy is still weak around the world, US and Europe have the same last year problems with job losses and problem banks... in this line, emerging economies, will invest its money in USD, specially in USD Bonds, as usual in economic crisis."

15.10.2009 EUR/USD will fall to 1.35 in the following months as world economy is weak yet - Rob Booker

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The Euro's rally against the Dollar from October the 2nd at 1.4480 has continued today to reach 14-month high at 1.4970 in the fourth consecutive day of gains of the European currency against the Greenback. EUR/USD is continuing, thus, with its 4 months advance from July 15 low at 1.3750 with the pair soaring more than 1200 pips since July.

Today The pair has reached 14-month high at 1.4970 and it has retreated to trade below 1.4850, bounce at 1.4840 and trade currently at 1.4935/45, 0.05% above today's opening price action at 1.4930.

According to Rob Booker, founder of TraderRadio.net, Euro can't actually sustain the levels it is trading against the Dollar on the back of the actual fundamental conditions: "Economy is still weak around the world, US and Europe have the same last year problems with job losses and problem banks... in this line, emerging economies will invest its money in USD, specially in USD Bonds, as usual in economic crisis."

Booker concluded in the interview he offered at the International Traders Conference: "Currently the EUR/USD is trading approximately at 1.4900, my prediction is that Euro will fall to 1.35, maybe 1.40 in the last months of the present year".

15.10.2009 Forex: EUR/USD recovers strength and rises to 1.4960

FXstreet.com (Crdoba) – The Euro is rising further against the Dollar during the American session. EUR/USD rose to 1.4960, only a few pips below intra-day high that lies at 1.4965. If the pair rises further the next resistance are located at 1.4980 (Aug 13 08 high) and 1.5000. Dollar failed to hold below 1.4900 and lost previous gains. The pair trades at 1.4945/50, 0.05% above today’s opening price. The Euro is rising for the fourth consecutive day.

The ecPulse.com analysis team affirms: “The euro-dollar pair traded with a downside bias, seen over daily charts. However, on the 4-hours and 1-hour charts the pair is inclining. The pair is moving in an overbought area after the euro has risen to 14-month high against the dollar. The euro area released today's CPI for September showing a decline and raising concerns. Trichet mentioned today that too much volatility in FOREX markets is an "enemy" threatening economic stability. “

15.10.2009 Forex: GBP/USD founds support at 1.6210

FXstreet.com (Crdoba) – Cable rallied across the board during the Asian and European session and currently is consolidating gains. GBP/USD peaked at 1.6300 (2-week high) and pull down finding support at 1.6210. The pair is now moving sideways in a range with the mention support and resistance at 1.6260. If the pair rises further, the next resistance lies at 1.6300 (intra-day high) and above at 1.6380/90 (September 24 highs).

Mohammed Isah, technical analyst at FXTechstrategy affirms: “Momentum build up on the back of its two days of recovery saw GBP breaking through its key resistance standing at the 1.6124 level today (Sept 30’09 high). Maintaining those gains on a daily closing basis today should bring further strength towards its declining channel initiated from the 1.7041 level currently at 1.6460. We envisage this level (channel resistance) may provide strong resistance and turn the pair back down. If however that level gives in, higher prices could develop towards the 1.6463 level, its Sept 23’09 high. Its stochastics and RSI are bullish and pointing higher supporting this view.
