Analisa Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) 05/12/2016

Technical

Crude Palm Oil futures traded at Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed off the day high on a disappointing trading session. Earlier price managed to break above the psychological level at 3100 but was unable to sustain as profit taking activity dragged price lower.

The benchmark February 2017 contract closed down 3 points at 3,076 ringgit per metric ton but still managed to post a 2nd straight weekly gain. Total traded volume stood at 39,998 while open interest decline further to 183,114 contracts from 188,298 contracts the previous trading day.

Market price failed to hold above 3100 level and retreated to close near the day low, painted a toppish outlook – positive to neutral

However sentiment remains bullish as price still managed to hold above the immediate support level at 7-SMA line – positive

RSI momentum line hovering around the 70 level – neutral

For today’s market, expect price to continue to consolidate around 3060-3106. A break above 3100 level could see buying activity returning to the market, targeting around 3110++. On the downside, a failure to defend the support level at 3055 (7-SMA) could trigger a new wave of selling pressure towards 3019.
