BPJPH calls for stronger regional cooperation to boost halal industry

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has underscored the importance of strengthening the regional halal ecosystem through closer cooperation to generate broader economic benefits, including through the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Regional Forum held recently.

Attended by delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, the IMT-GT forum serves as a strategic platform to enhance collaboration in developing the regional halal ecosystem and industry through stronger synergy among governments, businesses, academia, and other stakeholders.

"The halal industry has become a strategic sector with significant potential to drive economic growth, expand trade, foster innovation, and empower communities across the region," BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the halal industry is no longer limited to serving Muslim consumers but has evolved into a globally recognized quality standard that adds value to products and services for the wider public.

"Indonesia remains fully committed to supporting and strengthening regional halal cooperation under the IMT-GT framework while actively promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutually beneficial growth among member countries," Hasan said.

He expressed confidence that deeper cooperation among Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand would create greater opportunities for trade, investment, the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the development of globally competitive halal products and services.

"We believe that stronger collaboration among Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand will create significant opportunities for our regional halal ecosystem and contribute to the inclusive and sustainable growth of the halal industry," he said.
