Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger to delay striker signing until he assesses options

Arsène Wenger will delay a decision on signing a new striker during this transfer window until he has further assessed the comebacks of Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner.

Both have returned to full training following a lengthy sequence of injuries and should play again for the first team over the next week, with Wenger describing their involvement as like two new signings.
"We are not close to signing anybody and we are so focused on the [Bolton] game that we forget a little bit to speak about transfers," said Wenger.

"Our talks are more focused on 'when is he back?' and it looks like any player we can get back is like a transfer because we have not seen some players this season, like Walcott, like Bendtner."

With only 11 days until the end of the transfer window, Wenger also intends to wait before deciding on whether to allow Jack Wilshere to go out on loan.
Owen Coyle, the Bolton manager, regards Wilshere as a future England midfielder and, having previously tried to sign him for Burnley, will make a fresh inquiry after Wednesday's match against Arsenal.

A hamstring injury means that Wilshere will play no part on Wednesday, but Walcott is expected to feature among the substitutes for a match that could take Arsenal to the top of the Premier League for the first time since the opening week of the season.
Wenger believes that overhauling Chelsea would strike a psychological blow in the title race, although he played down the actual importance of the league table at this stage.

"We have won nothing yet, but we have won some credibility," he said. "However, that is not enough. I have confidence that my team will give absolutely everything. I trust their hunger, I trust their appetite and I trust their spirit."
Sol Campbell will not be in the squad against Bolton, with Wenger preferring to give him a full week of training ahead of a potential return against Stoke City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
The arrival of Campbell has pushed Philippe Senderos closer to the exit, with Celtic poised to agree a loan deal for the Switzerland defender until the end of the season.

Arsenal (probable) (4-2-3-1): Almunia; Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy; Denilson, Diaby; Rosicky, Fabregas, Eduardo; Arshavin.
Bolton (probable) (4-4-2): Jaaskelainen; Steinsson, Cahill, Knight, Robinson; Lee, Muamba, Cohen, Taylor; Klasnic, Davies.
