Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he is looking to bring new faces to the Emirates, but only if the right opportunities arise.
The Frenchman expressed particular concern over his midfield, with captain Cesc Fabregas and Brazilian Denilson injured and Alex Song away at the African Cup of Nations.
Commenting on Denilson 's injury, the Arsenal boss said, "Denilson is a little bit mysterious at the moment."
Meanwhile Wenger also recognized the impact of Song's absence on his Arsenal team, admitting "I knew before Song left for the African Nations, unfortunately, that he'd be missed."
Despite his midfield concerns, when asked if he would enter the transfer market to strengthen his side, Wenger made clear that he would only add to Arsenal's squad if the right player becomes available.
He said, "I'm looking for players in the transfer window. I said many times I have an open eye on the market and, if the right opportunities come up, we will do something. But at the moment I must say I'm still only looking."
Wenger recently admitted that Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh is not an immediate transfer target for Arsenal. The striker himself has now further hinted that any transfer will have to wait until the summer.
"He is a player we have an interest in, but we are focused on short term at the moment" said the Arsenal manager recently.
Now the Morrocan striker who is available for free in the summer has said that he will make a decision on his destination for next season by the end of the current transfer window, commenting "I'll give my answer by the end of January."
