The Mi 9T full screen notch-less display is made possible with the pop-up selfie camera feature
Xiaomi has launched its new Mi 9T smartphone model, aimed at consumers looking for a mid-range device with flagship-like features, in Malaysia today.
The Mi 9T with 6.39in notch-less Amoled FHD display is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor. The device’s full-screen look is possible thanks to its pop-up selfie camera feature.
Users can activate the pop-up mechanism by clicking on the front-facing button in the camera mode. The pop-up mechanism packs a 20-megapixel camera with sapphire glass cover, along with features like panorama selfie, palm shutter, AI silhouette detection, age recognition and more.
The back of the device comes with a triple camera setting which includes a 13-megapixel lens for ultra wide angle shots with 124.8° field of view, 48-megapixel wide angle primary lens with Sony IMX582 sensor and 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The 48-megapixel lens supports high-resolution photography.
Other camera features include AI scene detection and a night photography mode which promises brighter night-time photos. The back camera also supports 4K video recording with 30 FPS.
The device comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner, 6GB RAM and two internal storage options, namely 64GB and 128GB. Note that the device does not come with a card slot for the option to expand the internal storage space on the phone.
The Mi 9T comes with a MIUI 10 operating system based on Android Pie, NFC support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a massive 4,000mAh battery capacity with fast charging 18W support.
According to Xiaomi Malaysia head of marketing Jess Lee, Malaysia will be one of the first markets in the region to get the Mi 9T. It was first unveiled at a series of global launches in France, Spain and Italy on June 12.
The Mi 9T with Black and Blue colour options is priced at RM1,199 for the model with 64GB storage with availability starting June 25, while the 128GB variant is priced at RM1,399 and will be available from June 29.
