Luxury Car Displaying Name of ‘Sultan Melaka’ Seized PDF Print
SERDANG, 15 JULY, 2010: Police seized a Rolls Royce car worth RM2.85 million which displayed the name "Sultan Melaka" during the official opening of a building by a local investment company in Bandar Puteri, Puchong this afternoon.
Serdang OCPD, Supt Abd Razak Elias said upon inspection police found that the luxury car which displayed the name 'D.Y.M.M Tuanku Raja Noor Jan Shah' was rented from a used car dealer and the name 'Sultan Melaka' was used to convince foreign investors.
"We also detained three men aged between 20 and 35 who claimed to be the driver and organisers of the function for further investigation. Upon checking, one of them was also found to be positive of the ketamine drug," he said at a media conference here.
Abd Razak said police would get a statement from Raja Noor Jan Shah, who had previously claimed to be an heir to the Melaka Sultanate, whether he knew his name was being used by the investment company.
"At the moment, police were only detaining an individual for being positive of drugs while the two others had been released. However, further investigation is being carried out including getting a statement from a representative of the investment company," he added.
