Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has highlighted the importance of close synergy between the central and regional governments, especially in overseeing the implementation of national strategic programs.

“I hope we can work together, innovate, and voice the aspirations of regions,” he said after a meeting with the Indonesian District Government Association (APKASI) at the office of the Home Affairs Ministry in Jakarta, on Friday.

Karnavian expressed the hope that APKASI can serve as a bridge not only between the central government and regional governments, but also associations, Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD), and others.

He emphasized that the collaboration is an important part of the joint effort to realize the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision through the Asta Cita missions.

At the meeting, the minister conveyed two main directives, namely organizational consolidation through solid management and the preparation of a conceptual work plan.

He said that APKASI has an important role as a partner of the Ministry of Home Affairs in bridging communication between the central and regional governments.

It is also supporting the implementation of priority programs such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Red and White Village Cooperatives, and other strategic programs.

During the meeting, APKASI reported the results of its National Congress VI held in North Minahasa, North Sulawesi, which resulted in the appointment of Lahat district head Bursah Zarnubi as the new APKASI chairperson for the 2025-2030 period.

A number of current issues were also discussed at the meeting, including challenges in building transparent and accountable regional governance.

In this regard, the minister emphasized the importance of strengthening the integrity of regional heads to prevent corrupt practices that could damage public trust and hinder development.
