Salam, sya takde la pandai sgt, tp sikit2 ada la pengalaman setup network utk office dan sekolah. Mari sya share skit.
Sebelum tu nak tanya tt...
1. Kegunaan server utk apa? i.e print server, file sharing, internet server/proxy
2. ada internet access tak utk LAN ni?
3. kalo ada internet jenis apa? i.e streamyx yg guna RJ45 @ usb modem celcom, maxis dll
4. Hardaware apa yg da sedia ada? i.e switch,network printer/printer biasa usb,repeater,cable,dll
ok kalo 1 pc nak jadi server, pc server tu at least mesti ada 2 network kad.(1 utk input, 1 lg utk output)
Basic Networking.(ni aku copy je dr
website)
Kebiasaannya ada 2 jenis Networks.
1.Peer-to-Peer Network Architecture
Often referred to simply as peer-to-peer, or abbreviated P2P, a type of network in which each workstation has equivalent capabilities and responsibilities. This differs from client/server architectures, in which some computers are dedicated to serving the others. Peer-to-peer networks are generally simpler, but they usually do not offer the same performance under heavy loads.
Advantages of a peer-to-peer network
*Less initial expense -
No need for a dedicated server.
*
No need for a network administrator.
*Network is fast/inexpensive to setup & maintain.
*Each PC can make backup copies of its data to other PCs for security.
*Easiest type of network to build.
Disadvantages of a peer-to-peer network
*Tak boleh control kelima2 pc, maksudnya takde la network admin.
*Kalo switch dgn internet ON je, sume pc bole access internet freely tak bole monitor/tapis.
2.Client/Server network Architecture
We strongly recommend installing a Client-Server network architecture
Client / Server is a network architecture in which each computer or process on the network is either a client or a server. Servers are powerful computers dedicated to provide certain services from managing disk drives (file servers) to printers (print servers). Clients are PCs or workstations on which users run applications. Clients rely on servers for resources, such as files, devices and sometimes even processing power.
Advantages of a Client-Server network
*Centralized -
Resources and data security are controlled through the server.
*Scalability - Any or all elements can be replaced individually as needs increase.
*Flexibility - New technology can be easily integrated into the system.
*Interoperability - All components (client/network/server) work together.
*Accessibility -
Server can be accessed remotely and across multiple platforms.
*Security -
Server can manage access lists and restrict certain areas and/or files.
Disadvantages of a Client-Server network
*Kalo server tak idop(OFF), pc yg lg 4 takde accsess internet, print, dll, but still 4 pc tu bole communicate antara 1 sama lain jika switch ON.
p/s:better tt kuar modal skit utk beli buku ttg networking, sbb aku dulu pon belajar networking dr buku...

Kalo rajin bole search internet dan compile jdkan buku.
