New English Thread

haha. you're right. :D

actually me and my friends talked about this matter while we're having dinner. we were talking about our senior's wedding a few days ago. that's when my friend, he's a male, said most of them wanna look for a teacher. and as he attended our senior's wedding, he said that senior gave him that looking when you're studying advise. in med school, of course male students have more benefit than female students as they get older, more and more juniors are coming in, so they said, they have more choices than us.

it's just a dinner talk somehow. but i don't know why i kept thinking about it.

finding a teacher. teacher seems cannot 'in' with me. seriously. :))

but you're right. the time will come. and i don't have to really concern about it. :D

whats wrong with teachers?:">
seems like youve narrowed down your candidates to doctors only...
and about that juniors thing... you know what... it is only now that youre still a student, you would feel it is weird to couple with a younger guy... after school, those years different wont matter anymore as long as the gap is not that big...:D

my mom's place, you can still get the fish straight from the boat. a lot cheaper. and fresh of course.

right now, i'm more to cold places like the mountains, with foggy view and stuff. but i don't know where to go. plus my parents wouldnt allow me to go alone, so i have to at least go with my friends.

i still havent think about where to go for my elective. #:-S

what abt cameron highland or genting... or any place that are > 1000 ft above sea level would be foggy early in the morning or after rain... during my study at shah alam, we organised the trip to cameron... made a collection to charter a bus and stayed overnight there...

what abt your elective? what is it... smtg like a practical training or smtg else?

yeah exxon mobil is well known for their sap. if you could get sap position in their company that time, am sure right now u'll be having generous amount of stable income being end user or consultant. my trainer was sap consultant and he's earning 25k last time (and very high taxable amount too. its 26%. can u imagine? :)) ).

why dont u pursue a sap career? i think it was quite a waste, but if u already earn quite a figure, then lets rest the case. anyway are u an IT person? how do u get involved in that exxon mobil project? :-?

sap is still in demand right now, but only for those experienced people. if u at least completed one cycle of project, then u are ready to go man! u could demand up to twice of ur income after only one year of experience, being a consultant. for end user am not sure. but being an end user is a good base to be a sap consultant. am quite worry actually because being a freshie, the jobs is quite scarce. but if u are certified, it might give u a lil bit of advantage. on this 7 Dec am going to take SAP ERP cert exam, hope i'll pass. but of course erp cert has lesser value than sap functional cert. u can tell by looking at the books, sap erp has only 1 book, while sap functional has 4 books.

anyway i joined 2 sap course, sap erp and sap mm training. erp is an integration course while mm is a specific module. and am doing arts n design, isnt that weird? :)) but well i think i can still catch up :)

i believe i was earning within that range at that time... and i opted for no EPF, so no tax... hopefully nobody in here from the irb...:))
but then it was for 6 months only, and i was unemployed for 18 months after that...
my work there was more of using excel than SAP... we were dealing mainly with the CMMS (computerised maintenance management system) portion. exposure to SAP towards the end was mainly to enable us to add in, edit or remove data from that system and that was the job offered to me immediately after i finished my contract with exxon... that offer came from petronas in miri with a salary of rm6.5k to lead a team. i declined and passed it to my friend and i went unemployed for 18 months. :)):))
that contract was for 3 years (2010 - 2012) and recently he got extended for another 3 years...
how i got involved? by luck actually.. youre in penang and there are lots of electronic companies there, right? i was with one of them... retrenchment is part and parcel of these electronic company. i took one in 2008. luckily, my friend need someone good in excel and with some basic SAP... so, i just tried lorrr... lied through my interview (just on the experience part), i got the job...:)):))
if you are interested to enter this kind of job, i can PM you a few numbers... these are companies bidding to supply manpowers for those oil and gas project.. it is not guaranteed that you'll get the job but you can try from there..:)

haha. nothing. it just that i prefer lecturers than teachers maybe? well, i have quite a relationship before with a friend, and he's now a teacher. but yeah. we couldnt really blend in. :D

it's true my priority are doctors, but nope, i don't really mind actually what is my husband's job. as long as he works, then it's okay.:">

yep. you're right i guess. but looking at juniors now, they are just not mature enough.:)) actually i don't mind if the guy is quite old from me. let say 10 years older, but i cant really accept those who younger than me.

that's what i said now, we'll wait till i graduated. :))

my friends and I are planning on going to cameron, but we didnt know much about going there from here, because most of us go through simpang pulai.

elective is a requirement for 3rd year med student to go and do something that benefit us, medically related.like doing some health check up for the orang asli. some of my seniors even went to the philippines and india for their elective, but it's very costly.

another word of elective is going holidays in a medical way. :))

what irb stands for? :-?
wow that was pretty big amount u ve earn. luckily u got involved in sap in such an early time. nowadays its very hard for a very or basic sap user to earn that much. the standard is 2.5k for freshies, even in mnc. if u lucky u'll get 3k but its a rare case n i wouldnt expect that much. when u said R2, that was pretty long time ago. now we are using ecc already. n r3 itself has few editions before its updated to ecc. when was that time? 7, 8 years ago? :-? i juts knew that we were not eligible for tax if we dont epf. new info for me. but yeah sap does have vacancies for contract position. but usually they would take those people that has experience for at least 1 project cycle. n am certainly not in that position :(. the pay is also high, as much as u mentioned above. i believe during ur time, the pay was higher because the demand is high and sap is niche skill. now sap is everywhere because of these free courses am taking. well, there's nothing i can do to stop the wave #:-S

why dont u take the offer, but going unemployed instead? 18 months equals to 1 year and a half u know. but maybe if u got something better to do, it's ok. what ever it is, u should have ur own reason right.

looks like there are some credits in lying :)). well good for u. as for myself, am not good at lying at all. it will mirrored in my actions, my gestures, my voice. i would feel so awkward and people can sense it. especially when the person is looking at my eyes, i couldnt bare to face him/her. it looks so obvious :)). n i really dont have confident in that. but i really hope i could learn to lie, especially in those critical moment of serious events like interview etc. i think u could lie in an interview is such a gift. i wish i have it too :D

anyway thanks for ur pm. i'll contact them, but i would do a serious job hunting after i pass the sap erp exam, n get certified. i plan to get sap mm certification as well, but they say the questions quite tough and i'll have to spend 1.6k myself, so i have to be very confident to answer the question, or else 4 months of my car loan payment will be gone just like that #:-S

haha... learning from the past experience ehh.. pity him...:))
but like you said... we shouldnt measure by age, right? it should be by maturity regardless of the age...:">

for those elective... who is paying the expenditure... and how long would that be?

IRB stands for Internal Revenue Board or Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri....:D
in some cases when you are hired as a contractual staff, you have the option to have an epf deduction or not... if you choose not to have the deduction, then irb may not have the visibility on your income, therefore no tax...:D like you said, if your salary is within certain bracket, your tax could reach 25%...
that project with exxonmobil was in 2009... not that long ago actually... and i declined the offer because i was gambling on another offer that didnt materialised...:))

lie during interview... better not... i did it because i cant escape... my friend told me he altered my resume just 2 hours before the interview... never before in my life i have to "study" my own resume...:))

haha... learning from the past experience ehh.. pity him...:))
but like you said... we shouldnt measure by age, right? it should be by maturity regardless of the age...:">

yep. what's important is the maturity. actually there was this one junior, and he kinda had a crush on me. :p but he's too... erm.. i don't know how to say. sort of childish maybe. like i have to be the mature one. :p

that past experience with that teacher. hmm. yeah. learn a lot. i learnt how he dislike doctors, working long hours and stuff. he even said that he wanted his wife to stop working and be a housewife once they have children. so i disagree with him and that's it.

it's a long story anyway. :p:))
