Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Cooperative Ministry has launched an internship program to strengthen the operational phase of the Village Cooperative Merah Putih (KDMP) program, Deputy Destry Anna Sari said Monday.

Speaking at the launch in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday, Aug. 23, Sari said Al-Ittifaq Pesantren in Bandung would train agricultural cooperative participants.

General trading KDMP operators will undergo internships at Sunan Drajat Pesantren in Lamongan, East Java, she said.

The program aims to help cooperative administrators develop quality business models and sustainable enterprises based on the potential of their respective villages, Sari said.

Agricultural KDMP operators will study integrated farming systems covering professional production, management and marketing, she said.

The Al-Ittifaq Pesantren cooperative operates a mature agribusiness system linked to modern markets, allowing participants to study the value chain from upstream to downstream.

“The program will help administrators strengthen skills in cultivation, entrepreneurship, harvest management, discipline and self-reliance,” Sari said.

Meanwhile, the Sunan Drajat Pesantren cooperative will help participants develop businesses across various sectors and adopt digital transformation, she said.

The cooperative operates businesses in trade, hospitality, restaurants, manufacturing, food processing, Islamic finance, agriculture and horticulture, generating profits from its diversified ventures.

“Cooperative administrators must identify local potential and develop relevant businesses,” Sari said, highlighting KDMP’s focus on leveraging rural strengths.

The internship program also reflects the ministry’s leading role in KDMP implementation, requiring qualified administrators and managers to develop professional and sustainable businesses, she said.
