It is really helpful because it has in-built backtester. Also MQL5 is really useful website where you can read guides, try out free or paid indicators, learn how to code your own bot. I also have MT5 at Hotforex however after spending some time there I realized that it gives up in terms of speed to the older version.

Yes I think it helpful for a newbie, because included an easy user interface, trader newbie can using the platform with a demo account and exploring the feature inside MetaTrader 4 platform, how to modify the order, placed stop-loss, using trailing stop, use strategy tester, and more, you can also attach new indicator custom that supports mt4 on mt4 platform easily.

For starters its user interface is quite easy. As a beginner I use it and got used to it quickly. There are various modifications you can use to train yourself too and all in all after having tried to use MT5 I still prefer MT4.
