Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan telah mengeluarkan fatwa bahawa skim yang dibawa Mecca Fund Global adalah haram kerana menawarkan pulangan tetap. Tidak lama selapas itu ia pun ditutup kemudian muncul pula Mecca Islamic Hotel yang turut sama menawarkan skim pulangan yang sama. Cuma nama sahaja telah ditukar.
