Liverpool Liverpool Transfers

07.00 GMT: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to loan out goalkeeper David de Gea as he begins his search for a new shot-stopper. The Daily Mirror reports Ferguson has lost patience with the Spaniard after giving him ample opportunities since his move to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid. It is claimed that Stoke City's Asmir Begovic is being considered as a possible replacement, as is Liverpool's own Spain international Pepe Reina.

The Reds, meanwhile, appear set to miss out on Cagliari defender Davide Astori. A £7 million bid has apparently been launched for the 25-year-old by Brendan Rodgers, but interest from Southampton may scupper the deal, according to the Daily Mail. The Saints have reportedly offered £9.5 million for the two-time Italy international.

21.30 GMT:Oussama Assaidi could be set to leave Liverpool just six months after signing claim talkSPORT, who say that Ajax and Galatasaray are both monitoring the wingers’ situation. Assaidi is on international duty with Morocco at the moment, and is contracted to Liverpool until 2016, but that won’t deter either club from pursuing a temporary deal.

£240,000-a-week! Wesley Sneijder's wage demands scare off Liverpool

Wesley Sneijder has been warned he needs to cut his wage demands in half if he is to fulfil his Premier League dream.

Liverpool made informal enquiries about the player’s situation, after the Dutch midfielder was told he can leave cost-cutting Inter Milan in this transfer window.

But they have been put off by talk of a £6million a year salary demand AFTER tax, which equates to almost £240,000-a-week.

The Reds are determined to cut their own wage bill and restrict even superstar signings to around £90,000 a week.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers said on Thursday about a deal for Sneijder: “I couldn’t see that happening.”

He has also calmed talk of a move for Barcelona striker David Villa, who will not be allowed to leave the Nou Camp this month.

Sneijder has had an offer of more than £200,000 a week from Turkish side Galatasaray, but he is stalling and his actress wife Yolanthe is said to be desperate to avoid moving to Turkey.

Galatasary president Unal Aysal said on Thursday: “We’ll wait another three or four days for Sneijder. If the deal collapses, we have alternatives.

"The player knows our proposals.”
