LIVERPOOL owner John W Henry has written another open letter — this time to defend his running of Boston Red Sox.
But while the American tycoon insists he will not break the bank to fund Anfield signings, he boasts that his baseball team will continue to be among sport’s biggest spenders.
Henry’s comments will anger Kop fans worried by their team’s poor start to the season and questionable transfer record.
They will also ponder the absent owner’s interest after Henry pledged his 365 days-a-year commitment to the Red Sox.
With Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers scratching round for a cut-price striker, Henry gave his full support to Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine.
Liverpool supporters have been left in no doubt which side of the Atlantic Henry’s priorities lie.
Her said in his American open letter: “Baseball is a 365-days-a-year sport for us. Our commitment to winning with the Red Sox is unabated.
“We continue to have the second highest payroll among the 30 clubs.”
Henry’s bold declaration is in stark contrast to his letter to Anfield fans in which he spoke of getting maximum value for money and described the club as a work in progress.
Liverpool are 18th in the Premier League with one point from three games.
