Brendan Rodgers will sign another contract at Liverpool but with conditions attached

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to sign a new deal with the Reds on the condition that he is given more control over player transfers at the club, reports the Daily Mirror. The 41-year old manager believes that he has earned the right to take charge of transfers after taking the club to the cusp of the winning the Premier League title this season.

The Northern Irishman is open to a penning down a new 5-year deal at Anfield, during which he plans to build a new dynasty at the famous club.

Speaking about his future, Rodgers was quoted saying, “It’s one of the leading clubs in the world and I want to be allowed to build and develop the club without interference. I have a great relationship with the owners and, hopefully, we can continue to develop the team. We’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m looking five years ahead. I’m 41, I’ve got many years ahead of me – but there aren’t too many bigger than Liverpool.”

Rodgers also revealed plans of expanding the Anfield stadium, which will help the historic ground accommodate 21,000 more supporters, and he also wishes to attract higher pedigreed players with Champions League football in the bag for next season.

Rodgers currently has just 1 year left on his present deal with Liverpool, and is reportedly on the short-list of many top teams including the likes of FC Barcelona. It would be advisable for the Liverpool board to give him the control he desires as the Northern Irishman has already done wonders at the club.

Deals to Be Completed In the Summer Transfer Window

Will Hughes: Derby County to Liverpool

The intense blondness of Will Hughes hair means he was always going to stand out on the football field, but the 19 year-old has managed to gain notice thanks to an impressive skillset. As well as good height and physical presence, Hughes is a cultured passer who plays with his head up at all times. He seems destined for the top of the game and a move to Anfield is on the cards.

Yevhen Konoplyanka: Dnipro to Liverpool

We want to see this happen just so we can find out how good the Ukrainian flyer actually is! He very nearly joined Liverpool on transfer deadline day in January, and scored a thunderbolt against England back in 2012. Spurs also want to sign the winger, who could finally be given the chance to test his mettle in the Premier League, but a move to Anfield appears more likely.

Ex-Liverpool boss: CL was top priority

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans insists Champions League qualification was the Reds’ main priority but admits they are within touching distance of making history.

The Premier League leaders ensured safe passage to Europe’s biggest club competition with today’s edgy 3-2 triumph at the expense of relegation-threatened Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Three successive wins will earn Brendan Rodgers’ men their first top-flight title in 24 years to the delight of Evans, who was at the Anfield helm between 1994 and 1998.

Liverpool entertain rivals Chelsea on Sunday before travelling to in-form Crystal Palace and hosting Newcastle United.

Evans took to social media site Twitter to share his joy at his old club’s 11th straight triumph.
He said: “Champions League mission number 1 accomplished with style and great football, 3 more games to create history for our great club. Believe.”

Rodgers’ men are now five points clear of second-placed Chelsea and are firm favourites to finish the season top of the pile.

STUNNER: MAN UTD FULLBACK EVRA HAS VOTED FOR SUAREZ IN PAST TWO PFA POLLS

United captain shows no bitterness by voting Anfield star player of the year.
Man United captain Patrice Evra is a classy man.

The Frenchman voted Liverpool's Luis Suarez player of the year for the second season running, despite the ugly race row between the pair in October 2011, reports the Sunday Mirror.

Suarez was fined £40,000 and banned for eight matches for racially abusing the United defender but the 32-year-old has nonetheless deemed the Uruguayan the best player in the Premier League this term.

"Suarez is an outstanding footballer, but no-one at United could believe it when Patrice voted for him," an Old Trafford insider reportedly told the Mirror.

"It shows the measure of the man that he didn't allow what happened between them to cloud his judgement.

"He clearly doesn't bear a grudge."

Suarez is the favourite to beat teammates Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge, Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Adam Lallana of Southampton and Man City's Yaya Toure to the award, which will be announced at a gala dinner in London on April 27.

The former Ajax striker has scored 30 league goals to fire Liverpool to an expected title challenge, whilst avoiding (so far) the controversy that plagued this first two seasons in the English football.

Liverpool Target Dutch International Midfield Maestro

Anfield side chase injured AS Roma star.

Liverpool are said to be plotting a move for AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman despite the fact that the Dutch international is currently sidelined with a long term injury according to Football Direct News.

The 24 year old was finding his stride in the Italian top tier before suffering a cruciate ligament injury earlier this month and has already been ruled out of the 2014 World Cup finals but seemingly this has not dampened Brendan Rodgers' interest in the former PSV Eindhoven man.

Man United had tracked Strootman last summer and are apparently continuing to monitor his progress and could also be in the running to land the rangy midfielder, though one imagines Stadio Olimpico boss Rudi Garcia has no intention of losing a player he only signed last July.

Rodgers doesn't have a wealth of central midfield options with only the likes of Lucas Leiva, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen to call upon.

Liverpool manager may feel that as well as reinforcing this area of his squad he could see Strootman as a long term replacement for captain Gerrard.

Liverpool preparing a £6 million summer raid on Cardiff City

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall could be the subject of a 6 million pound bid from Liverpool in the summer, reports the Metro. The Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers is short of top class goalkeeping options, and is hoping to recruit the 29-year old as a backup for his first choice goalie Simon Mignolet. The Reds’ task will get easier if the Welsh side get relegated in the summer.

Marshall has 11 caps for the Scottish national team and has been one of the few shining lights in the Bluebirds’ campaign so far. The authoritative goalie has put in a number of commanding displays in goal for Cardiff City this season, which has caught the attention of Rodgers.

Liverpool’s 31-year old Spanish goalie Pepe Reina, who is currently on loan at Napoli, has gone out of favour with the Merseyside club and could leave them in the summer, leaving Rodgers with not too many capable backup options in the goalkeeping department.

The Reds are scouting a number of goalkeepers, and 29-year old Marshall, who has proven himself in the Premier League, will not be a bad option to fill in as a second choice goalie for the Anfield club.

Marshall has kept 7 clean sheets in 27 league games for Cardiff this season, which is quite impressive for a team that does not boast of a very good defensive record.

Liverpool on alert as La Liga target wants summer move
1172Screenshot_2014-04-21-20-06-28-01.png

There has been some reports emerge from abroad which have claimed Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld is ready to quit the Spaniards.

The Belgian defender is not happy at the Vicente Calderon, as boss Diego Simeone has kept his minutes at the pitch to a minimum.

And the Fichajes.net website claim he is ready to make a summer move away from La Liga and test himself in the Premier League.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add to his back line and knows he could get the Belgian for a bargain price.

Liverpool keen to bring £35 million man to England
4598Screenshot_2014-04-21-22-23-05-01.png

There has been some reports which have claimed Liverpool are keen to sign up Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla.

Liverpool have scored 93 league goals in 34 matches this season, so it may come as a surprise that Rodgers is looking to add further firepower to his attack next season.

However, Croatian playmaker Ivan Rakitic has guided the Spanish club to the semi-finals of the Europa League this term, scoring 15 goals from midfield in all competitions.

Rodgers may baulk at his rumoured £34m release clause and seek cheaper alternatives, but Rakitic is entering the last year of his contract and if he’s unwilling to commit further to Sevilla, the club may seek potential suitors for the 26-year-old. (TalkSport)

Liverpool would do well to sign the man up
