This one's for Liverpool!

Liverpool loanee Fabio Borini boosted his parent club's Premier League title bid as Sunderland claimed a shock 2-1 win at Chelsea.
Borini, who was once on the books at Stamford Bridge, converted an 82nd-minute penalty after Cesar Azpilicueta had fouled substitute Jozy Altidore to end Jose Mourinho's 77-match unbeaten run in home league encounters as Chelsea boss.
It is the second time this week that Sunderland have bolstered Liverpool's cause following the 2-2 midweek draw with third-placed Manchester City.
And the result simultaneously provided a huge lift to the survival chances of Gus Poyet's side, who are now only three points from safety.
Having scored a brace in Wednesday's encounter at the Etihad Stadium, Connor Wickham struck in the 18th minute to cancel out a Samuel Eto'o opener for Chelsea.
An error from Vito Mannone had handed City a point but Chelsea found Sunderland's goalkeeper in superb form as he produced an inspired string of saves before half-time.
Eto'o and substitute Demba Ba spurned chances in the second period before Borini struck - meaning that Liverpool can now open up a five-point cushion ahead of the top two's crunch meeting at Anfield next week if they beat Norwich City in Sunday's early kick-off.
Chelsea went into the match boasting nine consecutive home clean sheets - a record that 41-year-old goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer had to protect on his Premier League debut, with Petr Cech laid low by a virus.

The veteran Australian watched Borini fire a seventh-minute drive wide following some impressive hold-up play from Wickham.

Eto'o was then denied by a perfectly timed sliding tackle from Santiago Vergini but responded to volley home the resulting 12th-minute corner.

The lead was soon wiped out, though, when Schwarzer spilled Marcos Alonso's dipping drive and Wickham reacted quicker than John Terry to convert the rebound.

Slack set-piece marking almost undermined Sunderland again in the 37th minute but Mannone grasped Branislav Ivanovic's header at the second attempt via the crossbar.

There was little let up for the Italian goalkeeper as half-time approached and he produced impressive saves to thwart Willian and Nemanja Matic from close quarters.

In the 44th minute, after Mannone had parried from Willian, Sebastian Larsson out-muscled Ramires as the Brazilian looked to convert into an empty net.

Perhaps still suffering the frustration of that incident, Ramires was then fortunate to escape punishment when he struck Larsson with his elbow.

A breathless opening period concluded when Chelsea defender Azpilicueta made a last-ditch challenge to deny Adam Johnson having conceded possession to the Sunderland winger.
Chances continued to flow for Chelsea and Eto'o guided the ball wide after Willian had driven forward on the counter-attack in the 48th minute.
Mourinho sent on Ba in place of the ineffective Oscar but the player who netted vital goals in the recent triumphs over Paris St Germain and Swansea City found the Midas touch had deserted him, losing his footing when trying to get on the end of Willian's 66th-minute cutback with the goal gaping.
Sunderland weathered further pressure before Azpilicueta clumsily bundled Altidore to the floor and Borini stole the points from the spot with eight minutes left.
Poyet's team remain bottom of the table but three of their four remaining games are at home against fellow strugglers Cardiff City, West Brom, Swansea City.

Liverpool plan to make Real Madrid playmaker Isco their main summer transfer target in order to launch an assault on next season’s Champions League, [football] direct news understands.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have been the surprise package of the campaign, producing free-scoring performances and topping the Premier League table at the business end of a term in which a top-four finish was their aim.

A source close to Anfield told FDN Isco has been on the Reds’ radar for more than a year but they have not been in a position to bid for him due to their absence from Europe’s top club competition.
Now the Merseyside outfit believe their massively-improved status on the world stage can attract some of football’s leading operators, with Isco top of the wishlist.
They are aware of the fact that other big clubs will enter into the race to snap up the Spain international if Real decide to sell him, but remain confident of getting their man.

Liverpool are plotting a cut-price raid on Serie A heavyweights Roma for ex-Arsenal attacker Gervinho, [football] direct news understands.
A source close to Anfield told FDN boss Brendan Rodgers is still keen to add another winger to his squad, having missed out on the January acquisition of Dnipro’s Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Rodgers is a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international and could make his move when the transfer window reopens.
A clause in the player’s contract means Gervinho can depart Rome for only £4million if manager Rudi Garcia leaves – the pair worked together in France at Le Mans and Lille.

His agent inserted the clause into his contract upon his arrival at the Stadio Olimpico in 2013, following two years in north London at Arsenal.
He was an inconsistent figure for the Gunners, combining flashes of brilliance down both flanks with frustrating displays which often lacked an end product.
Gervinho has three years remaining on his Roma contract.

Reds close to taking former Tottenham defender to Anfield.Liverpool are closing in on a agreement to sign Steven Caulker from Cardiff City.

A source from the Welsh club told CaughtOffside an agreement to take Caulker to Anfield is 'close' to being finalised but will not be rubber-stamped until the end of the season.

It is thought to deal is not dependent on Cardiff being relegated and should be completed before the World Cup, regardless of the outcome of this Premier League season in which the two clubs still *have plenty to play for at either end of the table.

Reds' boss Brendan Rodgers has been a fan of Caulker even since the centre half spent a season on loan at Swansea in 2011/12 and the Northern Irishman was interested in signing him last summer.

Tottenham, however, were reluctant to sell to a club they considered a direct rival and Caulker joined Cardiff in a club-record deal for a fee which could rise to around £11m.

There have been discussions in the Spurs boardroom about an attempt to re-sign the England international this summer, with boss Tim Sherwood a huge admirer of the 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at White Hart Lane.

But Liverpool have taken advantage of the managerial uncertainty at Spurs to open talks with Cardiff and Caulker is desperate to join the likely Premier League champions.

Last summer, Rodgers claimed he had secured the Liverpool defence for a decade after the double-signing of Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori but the latter has not played a single match and is currently out on loan.

Caulker will challenge Sakho for a spot beside Martin Skrtel next season, with Daniel Agger expected to be sold in the summer.

Liverpool have door opened in summer chase for Mexican

Liverpool have received encouragement in their pursuit of Guillermo Ochoa after the Ajaccio goalkeeper admitted he open to offers this summer.

The Mexico international stated earlier this week that his priority is to prolong his career in France after his contract at Ajaccio expires in June.

But the 28-year-old, who is also on AC Milan’s radar, has altered his stance and has hinted he would be open to a move to Brendan Rodgers’ title-chasing side.

He told Todomercadoweb.es: “I am evaluating several offers from different countries. I have been in France for three years and I like the way in which this league has evolved, but I would also want to try elsewhere.

“At the moment I have no agreements with any team and I am willing to listen to all the proposals to make the best decision possible.
“My agent is dealing with everything and I do not exclude a future in Italy or England.” (TalkSport)

He could be a solid addition to the Liverpool set-up.

Reds on verge of variety of records
Liverpool's goalscoring and winning exploits in recent months leave the Reds in position to set new club records when they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.

Liverpool could equal a club record today by recording a sixth successive away league win. They have achieved the feat on four previous occasions, the last time coming in April 2002.

Their 3-2 victory over Manchester City a week ago was the side's 10th consecutive league win. Only twice before have they won more in succession - in 1990 they won a club record 12 on the spin, and 11 in a row in 1982.

The current unbeaten run of 15 league games is Liverpool's longest since they went 17 without losing in 2008.

The Reds' next goal will see them create a new club record of scoring 43 away goals in a league season.

They have netted 93 league goals this season; only twice in history have Liverpool scored more times in a season - both in Division 2 - and they went on to win the title both times, in 1895-96 with 106 goals and in 1961-62 when they scored 99.

Liverpool have scored in 24 successive league games. Should they score today, they will equal the club's top-flight record of 25, set between March and December 2001 and also from April to December 1933.

Another club record will fall today if Liverpool score in the opening 45 minutes. They have scored 56 first-half goals this season, equalling their previous best, which was set in 1895-96.

Liverpool have never scored five or more goals in four successive league games against the same team - they have netted five in each of the last three matches against Norwich. Between 1894 and 1896, they scored five, five and 10 in successive clashes with Rotherham.

Only three times since the war have Liverpool scored five or more goals against a team in both league meetings of a campaign - Grimsby (1946-47), Ipswich Town (2001-02) and Norwich last season.

Luis Suarez has scored 11 goals against Norwich - all coming in his last four games against the Canaries. Of the Reds' five hat-tricks against today's opponents, three have been scored by Suarez.

Only Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard (both with 12 against Aston Villa) and Michael Owen (13 against Newcastle United) have netted more for the Reds against a single club in the Premier League era than Suarez has against Norwich.

The Uruguayan needs one more strike to score more away goals for Liverpool than any other player in a Premier League campaign - he scored 12 last season to currently hold the record.

Jordan Henderson will see his run of 54 consecutive league appearances come to an end today, after picking up a three-match suspension last weekend. He has started all of the last 42 in the top flight.

Martin Skrtel has started the last 32 league games for Liverpool. The Slovakian centre-back has scored five goals in his last 10 top-flight appearances.

Norwich's last win over the Reds came at Anfield in April 1994 - the last game in front of a standing Kop - with Jeremy Goss scoring the famous goal.

Norwich have lost just one of their seven home league games in 2014. That was a 1-0 defeat by West Bromwich Albion two weeks ago.

In those seven games, they have conceded two goals. The last visiting team to score more than once at Carrow Road was Fulham, on Boxing Day, who won 2-1.

Only Chelsea (nine), Arsenal and Manchester City (10 each) have conceded fewer home goals this season than Norwich's 13.

The Canaries have gone three league games without scoring a goal (328 minutes) since a 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Liverpool could finally land long term Barcelona target
Liverpool have been interested in signing Barcelona winger Cristian Tello for what feels like an eternity now, and the Daily Mirror reports that the Premier League title aspirants believe that this could be the year they finally land the talented forward.

22 year old Tello has been a fringe player at Barcelona ever since he broke into their first team squad, and with Alexis Sanchez, Neymar and Pedro offering him competition for a starting berth, one finds it hard to see how Tello will get into their starting eleven anytime soon.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to do business with Liverpool and have declared 12 million pounds as an acceptable fee for the youngster, however, a lot would depend on whether or not the Catalan giants are successful in appealing the one year transfer embargo imposed on them by FIFA.

Should Barcelona fail with their appeal, they might decide to put a blanket ban on the sale of any players as they would not be able to strengthen their squad in case of injuries and hence Liverpool’s aspirations of bringing Tello over to Anfield might just need to wait another year.

Liverpool edge closer to Premier League star as agent admits powerhouse ‘will leave’
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is edging closer to a move for Micah Richards, after he told Manchester City that he will not be signing a new deal at the club, according TalkSport website

The defender has been out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini, as the Chilean boss prefers Argentine Pablo Zabaleta.

And although Richards has been at the club ever since he was a kid, he feels the best thing for him to do is make a move and try to get his career on the right track.

Man Utd hoping they can beat Liverpool in the transfer market this summer
Liverpool were emphatic in their wins over Manchester United this season as Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement has seemingly reversed the fortunes of the two great rivals. But David Moyes plans to bring back the glory days to Old Trafford and the Scot could go head to head with the Reds in the transfer market this summer after the agent of common target Luis Muriel revealed that his client is open to leaving Udinese for more first-team opportunities.

Colombia international Muriel has started just 12 Serie A games this season and the striker is keen to make the World Cup squad this summer. Having won the Serie A Young Footballer of the Year in 2011, Muriel has been tipped to lead the line for his club and country in the future, but the 23-year old is keen to play much more regularly than he has of late.

With United and Liverpool both keeping tabs on his client, Muriel’s agent Helmut Wennin was quoted by TalkSport as saying, “For now, he wants to play all the games possible with Udinese and the play the best he can ahead of the World Cup. Here we talk about football and Muriel is prepared to move wherever there is an opportunity.”
