Yap Shing Xuen’s Mum Says She’ll Never Forgive Teen Accused Of Murdering Daughter
She also claimed the teen's family has yet to apologise for the tragedy.
It’s been close to a year since 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen was brutally stabbed to death by a schoolmate in Bandar Utama, but her family’s nowhere close to getting closure.
Yap’s parents recently held a press conference to address the immense pain they have gone through and their thoughts regarding the suspect, who’s currently being detained at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor.
I’ll never forgive him’
At the press conference, Yap’s mother, Aapple Wong, said she has no room for forgiveness in her heart for the suspect, adding that everyone must take responsibility for their actions.
She also said she had learned through media reports and third parties that the teen’s family had intended to apologise to her and her family. However, none was given so far.
Found mental illness ‘defense’ unacceptable
Wong also panned the teen’s family for failing to act early and quickly in addressing mental health issues the teen reportedly faced.

“If a child suffers from depression or some other mental illness, as parents, you would not only worry that your child might hurt others, but also worry that they might hurt themselves. How could you possibly leave them unattended?
Now that the tragedy has happened, they are saying that the suspect had a mental illness. I cannot accept this,” she lamented
This comes after a report by a senior consultant forensic psychiatrist found that the teen suffered from a host of mental issues and was diagnosed with schizophrenia with psychopathic and sadistic traits.
The report also revealed that the teen was infatuated with Yap for a long time, but those feelings soon evolved into “envy, anger and hatred, and an intention to kill Yap” after he watched a video about a Japanese man murdering a 22-year-old British teacher in March 2007.
What has happened so far
On Sept 14, the teen was acquitted of Yap’s murder on grounds of insanity, leading to a huge outcry by Yap’s family and Malaysians.
Following this, the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) filed an appeal against the decision, meaning that the case will be heard by the Court of Appeal on a future date.
