Police report against Khir over '******' cow remark
2009/09/06
KUALA LUMPUR: The MIC Youth yesterday lodged a police report against Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for allegedly labelling cows as "******" animals.
Two online news portals had quoted the former Selangor menteri besar as saying so in defending the infamous "cow head" demonstration by Section 23, Shah Alam residents.
MIC Youth Social and Charity Bureau chief S. Subramaniam, who lodged the report at the Sentul police headquarters, said Dr Khir's comments could disturb the racial harmony of the country as it had created an uproar among the Hindu community.
"It is very disturbing that a former menteri besar could say such a thing. It only shows that he is not conscious of religious sensitivities," he said.
In the online articles, Dr Khir had been quoted as saying the cow's head had merely been a symbol of the idiocy of the current Selangor government.
He had also defended the actions of some protesters who spat and stepped on the head, saying this was an act of protest.
Subramaniam said he had also lodged a report on another matter, following the delivery of a letter to the MIC headquarters on Wednesday.
He said the letter had contained certain allegations regarding the death of 29-year-old lawyer Selvarani Paneerselvam, who was found sprawled on the ground floor of her apartment complex in Bukit OUG, off Jalan Klang Lama, on June 24, 2007.
Selvarani was believed to have fallen from her 17th floor apartment.
