Barclays Capital in a research piece out today suggests EUR/JPY is headed for a breakout to 171/172 this week whilst latter in the summer they are looking for 175/178. Barclays says triangular breakouts in the weekly and 240 minute charts imply further topside gains. The market appears still enamored to carry trades despite the volatility in equities. A topside breakout in EUR/JPY would turn the spotlight on USD/JPY with a break of the 200-day MA at 107.45 bringing into play levels above 110.
