How many of us have tried to do things our way, thinking the process would go much faster, but ended up with disaster on our hands? Let's face it, reading the instruction manual is so boring that throwing yourself into it seems like the best option. Instead of saving money, however, these bold experiments often backfire on us.
There's a reason product manuals and guides were created: they provide the safest way to perform repairs and maintenance, with all the details you need to do a good job. Unfortunately, some of us don't like to read instructions. In honor of the stubborn, we've rounded up some of the funniest examples of DIY projects gone wrong. Sit back, relax and enjoy this fun montage.

Do you want mold with that?

We don't know what this person was thinking, but it's clear that he forgot the most basic rule for eating any food. Before you devour something, make sure you check it out first. This can be done by smelling or even just looking at the food to see if mold is forming.

It was too late for this boy, as he only realized the bread was moldy after consuming three whole slices. You'd think the first bite would have been enough of a clue for him to turn on the light.

The key to a bad time

If you don't cringe when you see this photo, you are a stronger person than us. We can guarantee right now that whoever has that key must have pronounced every profanity in the dictionary.

Luckily, when the keys fell into the drain, it wasn't raining. All the owner has to do is stay calm and plan a strategy to get the keys back. A string with a small magnet on the end can do the trick.

A beautiful view

It would be hypocritical of us not to admit that we would love to live near the golf course. Who wouldn't want to be on the edge of a beautiful patch of lush greenery? It's a great way to combine our love of city life with our love of nature.

However, living so close to a golf course is another story. We wonder how many windows were broken before the owner decided to move elsewhere.

Sprinkle a small amount of... It doesn't matter

Cooking is therapeutic, but it can also be problematic. There are people who have a gift for preparing food. In fact, they seem to have been born with that gift, while the rest of us struggle with the basics.

This poor person started his day by frying some fried eggs. She tried to flavor it by adding a few peppercorns, but disaster struck. That is why cookware should be checked before use.

The worst kind of perfect landing

If this were gymnastics, the judges would have given the flour container a perfect score for a flawless landing. The owner was not so impressed. Of all the possible landing positions, this has to be the worst.

As you can imagine, many people commented on the original post, providing tips for picking it up without leaving too much of a mess on the floor. Our suggestion is to slip something like a thin but sturdy sheet of cardboard under it before flipping it over.

Staples to Clips?

If you read the label on the box, you may think that there is nothing wrong with what this person has done. You have to take a second look to see where the problem is.

The person was probably in a hurry when they bought the clips instead of the staples. Also, the box is misleading, so we can't blame them for picking it up without looking at it. Hopefully they still have the receipt so they can return it to the store.

Can't make this up

Having pets, like dogs and cats, is exciting, but it also helps us relax. The woman who took this photo was enjoying none of those states. Everyone knows that cats have a reputation for not giving a damn, but this is one step further.

In true feline fashion, these furballs tossed all the makeup brushes into the litter box. To make matters worse, the litter box contained fresh poo from the fur babies. Surely she threw all the brushes in the trash.

How to fail unlocking the building

The usual fear when we open doors is that the key does not work or gets stuck or breaks. However, this man had experienced something even more terrible than that.

It was his turn to unlock the building, and he was eager to do it. As seen in the photo, this guy has a lot of explaining to do, and his co-workers probably won't believe him. Luckily, he had a snapshot to prove it wasn't his fault.

How not to make a cake

There was once a legendary show on the Food Network where a guy was baking pies like nothing happened. He shared a lot of techniques and knowledge on how to properly bake cakes, and this made viewers want to try it for themselves.

We're not experts, but we're pretty sure that's not how you make a cake. That's just thick chocolate syrup with extra flour to make it rich. Maybe the responsible person should have bought one instead of trying to bake it.
