The default alert tool in MT4 is very simple. It only notifies you when the price hits a specific level. If you want alerts for complex indicator updates, you need a custom Indicator or EA. You can find many free options on the MQL5 market.

MT4’s basic price alert is pretty limited. For indicator conditions or economic-data notifications, a custom indicator or EA makes more sense, but it should be tested carefully so it doesn’t keep firing duplicate or delayed alerts.
