CySEC is the financial regulatory agency of the Republic of Cyprus since 2004 when Cyprus joined the European Union, CySEC has been a part of MiFid (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) which is aimed at providing harmonised regulation for investment services across the member states of the European Economic Area.
CySEC has a number of responsibilities, some of which include: supervising and controlling the operations of the Cyprus stock exchange and the transactions carried out on the stock exchange, its listed companies, brokers and brokerage firms.
CySEC is the supervisory body of Cypriot investment firms and is a member of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is a non-governmental body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. The FCA also plays a fundamental role in the regulation and authorisation of financial services firms from other countries within the European Economic Area (EEA).
Its main aim is to protect consumers, ensure the industry remains stable, and promote healthy competition between financial services providers. The FCA has rule-making, investigative and enforcement powers used to protect and regulate the financial services industry.

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) brings together under one roof the supervision of banks and financial services providers, insurance undertakings and securities trading in Germany.
It is an autonomous public-law institution and is subject to the legal and technical oversight of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
BaFin is funded by fees and contributions from the institutions and undertakings under its supervision.
The Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) is the agency in charge of supervising and inspecting the Spanish Stock Markets and the activities of all the participants in those markets.
CNMV was created by the Securities Market Law, which instituted in-depth reforms of this segment of the Spanish financial system. Law 37/1998 updated the aforementioned Law and established a regulatory framework that is fully in line with the requirements of the European Union and favours the development of European Stock Markets.
The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) has been responsible for supervising the operation of the financial markets since 1 March 2002. This means that AFM supervises the conduct of the entire financial market sector: savings, investment, insurance and loans. By supervising the conduct of the financial markets, AFM aims to make a contribution to the efficient operation of these markets.
AFM is the successor of the STE (Securities Board of the Netherlands / Stichting Toezicht Effectenverkeer), which supervised all of the participants in the securities trade.
CommexFX is governed by the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). MiFID provides a cross-border regulatory environment for investment firms active within the European Economic Area (EEA).
The main goals of MiFID are to enhance the transparency of financial operations, increase competition and offer a greater degree of consumer protection to clients of financial services firms.
In compliance with section 17 of the Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law of 2007 whereby “A Cypriot Investment Firm (‘CIF’) must be a member of the Investment Compensation Fund (‘ICF’)”, CommexFX is a member of the Investor Compensation Fund covering Clients of Cyprus Investment Firms.
The objective of the ICF is to secure claims by covered Clients against Cyprus Investment Firms through payment of compensation in cases where the member of the Fund is unable to do so from their own resources.
