Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger indicated after his sides 2-1 FA Cup win at West Ham yesterday, that he will be entering the January transfer window, but has just not yet found the player to beef up his injury ravaged squad.
When asked his about his transfer plans, the Arsenal boss said: "We'll try to be in the market. I have the money, I have the desire, but I do not have the player."
The Arsenal manager has repeatedly warned of the difficulties of signing players in January and Wenger reiterated this point at Upton Park. "We are still short in numbers - Arshavin was injured for the match against West Ham, but it is good to see Eduardo coming back to his best. It is never the easiest month [to buy players]. It is generally difficult to find the right people and in January even more so. I am not near [to signing] anybody."
Wenger also commented on how he sees the January transfer market in general, the Frenchman answered: "I do not know what will happen. Basically, it depends how the big guns — Manchester City and Chelsea — will move. Where will they buy? If they buy from English clubs, the market will be busy. If they do not buy from English clubs, I think the market will be very quiet because there is not a lot of money around."
Over the weekend, Wenger ruled out moves to bring Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Marouane Chamakh and Andre-Pierre Gignac to Arsenal. The Gunners are thought to be scouting for a striker to replace Robin Van Persie who is out injured for the majority of the campaign.
