09.11 BST: Still in Spain – reports in AS say Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho wants “Luka Modric or nobody” and that Nuri Sahin, who has been linked with Arsenal, would not be able to leave ton loan until Modric had arrived from White Hart Lane.
09.01 BST: In Spain, the Malaga situation rumbles on, with matters appearing no closer to resolution: something that will keep both Spurs and Arsenal on their toes.
Striker Salomon Rondon, who has been linked with Spurs, said: "We must not throw more wood on the fire. We will keep training and not make any rash decisions but, if the situation is not fixed, then it is normal that players would leave."
He said Santi Cazorla, apparently edging ever closer to a move to Arsenal, "would be a big loss for Malaga - he's a great player."
As ever with matters Malaga, it seems, watch this space.
08.56 BST: Arsenal players other than Van Persie linked with moves – help, shock, horror. Here’s the Express: “Arsenal outcasts Marouane Chamakh and Alexandre Song could both be set for moves to Europe, according to reports.” Chamakh, it says, could be off to Fiorentina.
08.40 BST: Ah, Robin van Persie and Juventus – hold on just a moment, says the Mirror, which has been keeping an eye on off-field developments.
“Robin van Persie could be ready to snub Juventus as their coach Antonio Conte is facing a lengthy ban over match-fixing related allegations levelled against him,” the paper says.
It reports: “Carl Thomas, who is assistant to the Arsenal striker's agent Kees Vos, posted on Twitter that Conte's predicament was "hardly the advert" to convince RvP to sign for Juve.”
Conte is accused of failing to report alleged match-fixing in two games during 2010-11 when he was coaching Siena. His proposal to strike a plea-bargain deal that would see him suspended for three months was rejected by the Italian Football Federation. He will now have to submit a new offer or face a sports tribunal, and could face a long ban.
