Gregory Van Der Wiel
Bacary Sagna was a simple player. He relied on the fundamentals and became a very reliable, solid right back. Sadly, we might not ever see him play to his fullest potential after he broke his leg twice in one season.
Since there isn’t anyone in Arsenal adequate enough (No, not Jenkinson...) to command a spot in the starting lineup in that position, Wenger needs to look for a replacement outside of his squad.
Gregory Van der Wiel is the ideal right back for Arsenal. He was part of the Dutch squad that went all the way to the World Cup finals in 2010 and is young enough (24 years old) to be a part of the Gooners for quite some time.
The only problem is that he is nearing a transfer to Chelsea so time is of the essence for Arsenal.
Nuri Sahin
Now Nuri Sahin may be close to joining Manchester United, but Sahin can definitely be considered an option for Arsenal.
Currently a rotation player for Real Madrid, Mourinho has yet to instill his faith in Sahin. That is why a potential deal can work for both parties.
If Sahin were to come in, there would be no need to sign aging Israeli Yossi Benayoun from Chelsea, there would be more depth and quality in Arsenal's midfield (given the fact that they would want to challenge for the Champions League and Premier League) and Sahin would gain some valuable playing time at Arsenal.
A loan deal with the option to sign would be ideal.
Ibrahim Afellay
Another Dutchman who Arsenal could benefit a lot from, Afellay would be a great winger for Arsenal.
His speed and skill would fit in well with the Premier League's style of play, and he would do well to raise the standard of wing play at Arsenal (I'm talking about you, Gervinho). With Afellay currently being used as a rotational player and viewed as one for the future at Barcelona, Wenger would do well to invest his energy in this youngster.
Robert Lewandowski (If RVP Leaves)
Lukas Podolski's goal-scoring record in Bayern Munchen (15 goals in 71 appearances) hasn't convinced me that he can play as a striker for a premier club.
If Robin Van Persie were to leave Arsenal, then Arsene should focus on Polish international Robert Lewandowski.
Lewandowski's goals for Dortmund, 22 in the Bundesliga, led his team to the Bundesliga for the second time in a row, and has established him as a big time player, something Arsenal will need more than ever if RVP says goodbye.
Clint Dempsey
Undoubtedly Fulham's best player last season, Clint Dempsey looks ready for the big time.
Granted, it may seem like a risk for both parties, but the American international has never approached a challenge he couldn't handle, and it looks like Arsenal would do well to cash in on the never-say-die American before another club go for him first.
