Analyst makes shocking prediction on Bitcoin's next 'god candle'

In the world of cryptocurrency, a "god candle" is a serious market phenomenon when an exceptionally large green candlestick appears on the price chart. This candlestick indicates an intense surge in the cryptocurrency's price over a brief period, usually within a day or a few hours.

The last time Bitcoin (BTC) saw a "god candle" was on Jan. 2, 2021, when "King Crypto" surged roughly 15% in a day, climbing from around $29,000 to over $33,000. Now, an analyst is predicting the timeline for the next "god candle" event. But there is a key test the oldest cryptocurrency in the world needs to pass.

Peter Schiff takes another dig at Bitcoin

Gold bug and longtime Bitcoin skeptic Peter Schiff took another shot at Bitcoin on April 5. Over the past five years, he noted, Bitcoin has been up just 12%. He compared it to the NASDAQ, which rose 57.4%, the S&P 500, which increased by 59.4%, gold's 163%, and silver's staggering 181% gain over the same period.

Onchain analyst Willy Woo fired back with a timeline that reframes the entire debate.

Willy Woo's long game

Woo responded to Schiff initially with a sarcastic comment. But on a more serious note, he added a timeline for how gold and Bitcoin would react in the next couple of decades. In Woo's view, gold has 15 to 20 years left before technology "rugs its scarcity."

In fact, estimates from the World Gold Council, as of March, show that the world has mined roughly 219,891 tonnes of gold so far. They added that the total potential gold deposits amount to 132,110 tonnes, including both the economically mineable part and the part that is not.

Bitcoin, Woo argues, faces its own inflection point. Woo also predicted Bitcoin trading sideways in the five to six-figure range for the next 8 to 12 years. In plain terms, this means Bitcoin will reach somewhere north of $1 million per coin.

At press time, Bitcoin was trading at $69,341.42 after a 3.3% rise in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, gold was trading at $4,683.77 an ounce.

But the quantum threat is real

Woo's quantum window is not idle speculation. Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis warned in a November 2025 report that sufficiently powerful quantum computers capable of breaking Bitcoin's elliptic curve cryptography could emerge within 10 to 15 years. Google's recent quantum processor demonstrations, which performed calculations thousands of times faster than classical computers, have fastened that timeline in many experts' minds.

Companies like Coinbase are already acting. In January, it launched its Independent Advisory Board on Quantum Computing and Blockchain to evaluate the threat and guide the broader ecosystem.
