i didn't make any changes that lead to change/s in file permission.

this server was configured unlike most apache servers. scripts doesn't run as "nobody". it runs as the user who owns the file. this is a lot more secure.... as i can safely set file permission for "world" as no read, no write, no execute. permission-wise this is the most secure can be done, if a hacker could get his/her hand on my files it must be another way, either by bruteforcing my over 50 characters (mixed alphanumeric and symbols) which i stored in my disc with RSA 256bit encryption or anyother way. in short he/she will have a tough time before he/she could really take a benefit from the effort.

but when the problem arose around 0000hours GMT, i did set the index.php permission as readable for the world, but to no effect... so i assume they are not done yet with the upgrade thing and just let it finish. that's how i assumed and react to it. (the site did become functional for a few seconds before showing errors again)

as i already had an appointment, i just went out (it's weekend and the meeting was previously postponed a few times). as i came back to the office, i find that someone broke into the office and stole my laptop with it's case, an external hard disk, and my favourite green mouse (which actually look like a frog).

so i went out again and make a police report, then sought the service of a shaman. i don't believe in superstitions but most of the time it works like magic. already know the culprit, working on getting the stuffs back. as the method is unscientific, i can't use rationals and deductions to beat the **** out of the guy to get my laptop back. so i'm slowly trying to get it back.

i'm on my friend's laptop now.
