Texas is set to see a major expansion of crypto access after Bitcoin Bancorp said it plans to deploy up to 200 licensed Bitcoin ATMs across the state beginning in early 2026.
The rollout, scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026, reflects a broader push by crypto ATM operators to expand in U.S. states with clearer regulatory frameworks and strong demand for cash-to-crypto services.
Bitcoin Bancorp, an OTC-listed company and Bitcoin ATM network operator, said the Texas expansion is part of its wider national growth strategy.
Why Texas is becoming a key market for crypto ATMs
Texas has emerged as one of the most crypto-friendly states in the U.S., supported by business-friendly regulation, updated money-transmitter laws, and a policy environment that has already attracted Bitcoin miners, blockchain firms, and digital-asset startups.
Licensed Bitcoin ATMs enable users to purchase Bitcoin with cash and, in some cases, sell cryptocurrency for cash. These machines are often used by people without easy access to traditional banking services or centralized crypto exchanges, making them a common entry point into digital assets.
Unlike earlier waves of crypto ATM growth that drew criticism for lax oversight, licensed machines typically involve stricter compliance measures, including identity checks and regulatory reporting. Industry participants increasingly see regulated deployments as a safer path for expansion amid rising scrutiny of crypto kiosks across the US.
A regulated expansion amid tighter scrutiny
The Texas rollout comes as crypto ATMs face increased regulatory attention nationwide, driven by concerns over high fees and fraud.
Multiple states have passed new laws imposing anti-fraud restrictions, transaction caps, and enhanced operator oversight in response to a surge in scams associated with crypto ATMs.
In recent months, some operators have scaled back or consolidated operations, while regulators have pushed for clearer consumer protections.
Bitcoin Bancorp said its focus remains on compliant growth and infrastructure scalability. Noveshen added that expanding the company’s licensed ATM network is “foundational to executing our long-term vision,” which includes adding support for digital-asset payments, stablecoins and other blockchain-based services over time.
