Responsibilities

• To provide leadership to the Technical department and above that as a functional head to be part of the core management team of Kuantan Brick Factory
• Analysis of raw material (Clay types) and fuels (inside and used for combustion of kiln) to analyse intrinsic properties of each clay to determine optimum blend for making bricks such as to minimize cost as well as improve speed of firing without compromise to quality i.e. appearance and strength specifications. For fuels to test for calorific value acceptance level and also to understand the same in affecting the kiln firing curve when introducing into brick and kiln
• Sourcing of new materials and continual innovation of raw material blends to achieve optimum as raw materials deplete or to reduce cost, improve quality as appropriate. For fuels to determine best mix that reduces cost in a sustainable manner i.e. without damage to kiln or health/safety requirements.
• Testing confirmation of raw materials and fuels compliance to specs for each batch of materials delivered before acceptance.
• Testing confirmation at key stages of production process daily to monitor quality, mix and moisture level compliance to production process specification; clay mix proportion, moisture post air-dry, post dryer and quality/yield at exit of kiln.
• Achieve necessary certifications as appropriate and maintain same certifications and relevant processes e.g. SIRIM, HACCP, ISO

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Chemical), Engineering (Material Science) or in related field
• At least 5 years of working experience in technical department preferable in steel / glass / building materials / clay / bricks / industry is required for this position
