SUKAN | Footgolf Bawa Malaysia Ke Piala Dunia
Footgolf may make Sea Games debut in 2027

BUKIT JELUTONG: Footgolf could feature in the Southeast Asian Games (Sea Games) for the first time at the 2027 Kuala Lumpur edition.
The Footgolf Association of Malaysia (FGAM) is taking efforts to promote the sport, which involves kicking a football into a hole in as few kicks as possible.
Footgolf uses the same model as golf, with a fairway, tees, hazards, bunkers and nine or 18 holes of play.
Steffi Sarge Kaur, the national women's football captain and a footgolf player, said the association hoped to get the sport into the Sea Games programme.
"International Olympic Council honorary member Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar shared his knowledge on how FGAM can lobby for the sport to be included in the 2027 Sea Games," said Steffi after the launching of a fundraising campaign to send the national footgolf team to the World Cup in Orlando, Florida, here today.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh officiated at the event.
FGAM hope to raise RM500,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to send a team to the Footgolf World Cup in May.
Steffi is ranked the No. 1 footgolf player in Asia.
"We are raising money through crowdfunding efforts to help us get to the World Cup. I hope to finish on the podium in Florida."
Another footgolf player, Jeff Cottam, said: "The sport is growing in popularity.
"There are 250,000 registered players globally with 200 courses in the United Kingdom and 500 more in the United States."
