The Ethereum story quietly changed over the last few months. Treasury desks that once piled into ETH as part of the “digital reserve” trade have pulled back hard. On-chain and fund data now show ETH treasury purchases down around 80% from the peak, with some big treasuries sitting on heavy paper losses and overall flows drifting into net-sell territory.

For price, this matters more than most headlines. That treasury flow was a structural bid. With it fading, the market has to lean on spot and derivatives traders instead of slow, sticky balance-sheet buyers. At the same time, ETH just reclaimed the ~$3,080 area and is wrestling with the thick $3,100–$3,200 resistance band where a lot of size previously transacted. Technically, a clean hold above that zone keeps the falling-wedge breakout alive and leaves the door open to the ~$4,150 target. Lose it, and the whole move looks like a fake-out.

From Stoxtel’s lens, the real question for traders isn’t “4k yes or no?” but “who is the marginal buyer now that treasuries have stepped back?” If fresh capital can step in, the grind higher can continue. If not, the market might discover just how fragile the recent bounce really was.

Curious how other Carigold members see it: is this just a treasury hangover in an otherwise healthy uptrend, or an early warning that the ETH bull case is running on fumes?
