💰 Stablecoin Exchange Reserves Reach Record High Amid Slowing Market Growth

📈 A new report from Cryptoquant reveals a significant shift in crypto liquidity dynamics. Stablecoin exchange reserves have surged to an all-time high of $68 billion, despite a slowdown in overall market capitalization growth. This increase was primarily driven by $53 billion in Tether (USDT) and $13 billion in USD Coin (USDC), surpassing the previous record of $59 billion set in February 2022.

📉 However, the report notes a considerable drop in weekly stablecoin market capitalization growth, which has decreased to approximately $1.1 billion per week. This is significantly lower than the $4–8 billion pace observed during Bitcoin's late-2024 rally. Additionally, USDT's 60-day growth has slowed to around $10 billion, down from a peak of over $21 billion in December 2024.

Exchange-held stablecoins remain an important signal of potential buying power,
the report states. Historically, high reserves have supported digital asset prices by ensuring ample liquidity on exchanges. However, with issuance tapering, current liquidity conditions are supportive but less potent than earlier this year.

🔄 The report suggests that markets may lean towards consolidation rather than extended parabolic moves unless there is a resurgence in stablecoin growth. Cryptoquant market strategists conclude that while overall conditions remain broadly bullish, the cooling pace of growth indicates that the powerful tailwinds of late 2024 have eased.
