ALOR SETAR:
A state Domestic Trade and Consumerism Ministry assistant enforcement officer has been charged at the Sessions Court here with accepting a RM200 bribe.
Norzaishafril Shaffie, 37, who is attached to the Kubang Pasu office, claimed trial to the charge before judge Zanol Rashid.
He was charged with accepting RM200 from an owner of an illegal fuel depot at an unnumbered warehouse in Kampung Remia Manis in Padang Terap about 4.32pm on Sept 24, 2014.
Norzaishafril was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code and faces a two-year jail term or a fine or both.
Norzaishafril was unrepresented while the MACC was represented by DPP A. Hafiizh Abu Bakar.
A. Hafiizh requested for bail to be set at RM10,000, but Norzaishafril asked for a lower bail, claiming that he had limited savings and needed money for his child's glaucoma treatment.
Norzaishafril also said that he was the sole breadwinner for his family.
The court fixed bail at RM4,000 with one surety and set April 27 for mention.
