The Allstate Foundation today established a $1 million fund to aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts in answer to the devastation of Hurricane Charley. The Southwest Florida Community Foundation has been chosen to distribute the Disaster Recovery Fund in the hurricane-affected zones of Florida. The official proclamation came during an event today with The Allstate Foundation and Southwest Florida Community Foundation officials in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Charitable alms from "The Allstate Foundation Disaster Recovery Fund at Southwest Florida Community Foundation" will be disbursed to applicant grassroots 501�(3) nonprofit organizations that support programs to aid rebuilding and recovery efforts in the Hurricane Charley impacted counties of Florida.
Donations from the fund are earmarked for a diversity of hurricane relief needs in affected communities. Some specific needs may include emergency shelter, edible and clothes, health issues (for a direct result of the hurricane), social services, mental health recovery efforts, community neat up, rebuilding and restoring community emergency services, and aid with home re-construction dweller permit processing.
