Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday ordered ministers and state officials to eliminate illegal levies and corruption within government institutions to support economic growth and clean governance.

“Take immediate initiative to clean up your respective bureaucracies. Do not hesitate. Crack down on those who violate the rules,” Prabowo said during a plenary session at the House of Representatives in Jakarta.

He said all government institutions must function effectively to eradicate abuse of power and respond to public demands for transparent and accountable governance.

Prabowo also warned that no official is exempt from replacement if found violating the law or failing to perform adequately.

The government, he said, would take firm action, including dismissing or suspending civil servants proven to have committed misconduct, to create a deterrent effect.

In strengthening oversight, Prabowo urged provincial, district and city leaders to coordinate massive internal reforms within their respective administrations.

He said the central government already possesses advanced technology capable of quickly monitoring and detecting budget misuse and asset irregularities.

The government plans to integrate defense technologies, including ground-penetrating radar and high-resolution satellites, to uncover hidden assets and concealed facilities.

Prabowo added that law enforcement efforts are often hindered by rogue security personnel who protect offenders or obstruct investigations.

To address the issue, he called on the public to actively document and report misconduct involving government officials.

While expressing confidence that most civil servants maintain integrity, Prabowo stressed the need for decisive action against officials whose conduct damages public institutions.
