Job Purpose

The primary role of the plant manager is to provide leadership and management of the Sulfonation Plant production team, plant assets and to drive continuous improvement in the plant in the pursuit of achieving the plant’s safety, quality and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Drive continuous improvement in plant and team performance through the use of annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Develop KPI’s and implement tracking mechanisms and actions to achieve and/or exceed goals.
  2. To plan, organize and train the manpower necessary to meet the operational requirements of the Sulfonation Plant.
  3. To provide for personnel development and career advancement for all management personnel assigned.
  4. Monitor the daily production output from the assigned unit and provide technical support to the production team to improve daily unit operating metrics and product quality.
  5. Coordinate with the Maintenance Dept. to initiate and track all preventative, planned and emergent maintenance requirements.
  6. Assist the reliability team to improve unit fixed and rotating asset reliability.
  7. Initiate and track the Management of Change (MOC) process for all unit changes or improvements.
  8. Ensure that production unit operating procedures and training materials are adequate to control the process and that they are periodically reviewed and updated.
  9. Develop a capital expenditure budget annually and to coordinate with Process Engineering to ensure it properly executed.
  10. Ensure the implementation of plant QMS policies, practices and procedures in support of ISO 9001 compliance. Respond to Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) requests and Customer Complaints and Feedbacks.
  11. Ensure that regulatory requirements for RSPO, GMP, Kosher and Halal are maintained in all packaging areas where required.
  12. Support and participate in the Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning (SIOP) Process as required.
  13. Develop an operating budget annually and track expenditures as required to ensure proper execution of the budget to within plan, or as directed.
  14. Ensure the implementation and compliance with all TPG site safety requirements, including LOTO, Confined Space Entry, HACCP, JSA and ERT.
  15. Conduct incident investigations and take appropriate corrective actions for all incidents identified by the SHE Dept.
  16. Submit on a periodic basis (as requested) reports related to the plant operating performance, safety compliance, quality and forecasts of utilization variance and operating costs.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering preferred. Bachelor of Science in other engineering disciplines will be considered with commensurate experience in large scale chemical plant operations.
  2. Five to Ten years working in an industrial facility, preferably a chemical process production plant, with at least three years in process engineering, operations and/or project engineering.
  3. Strong working knowledge of SAP, including SAP maintenance module.
  4. Strong working knowledge of DOSH 1910.xxx regulations
  5. Excellent verbal (Malay/English) and written communication skills.
  6. Excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of MS Excel. A good knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint.
