Great success for Honduras: the first time since 1982 Houduras will play at World Cup


Honduras national football team has qualified for World Cup 2010, the first time since 1982, when the World Cup was held in Spain.

Honduras has defeated El Slavador with 1-0 result, while USA is in Washington equalize to 2:2 against Costa Rica in the fifth minute of referee compensation, and so in the last moment, Costa Rica remained in fourth place in the group.

Carlos Pavón brought victory to Honduras in San Salvador in the 64th minute of game, and thus corrected his mistake in last match against USA. Namely, he failed to score from penalty shoot in the last round in San Pedro Sula, when he could equalize result to 3-3 and secure third place for Honduras.

The United States and Mexico ensured the performance on Soccer World Cup last weekend, Honduras as the third is also qualified for World Cup 2010, while the Costa Rica have to fight in two additional qualifying matches against Uruguay, 5th team from South American qualifying group.
