SEREMBAN, May 22, 2015:
A 55-year-old Judo instructor thwarted a car theft from taking place at Bukit Lemon yesterday evening.
Seremban OCPD Muhd Zaki Harun said Lee Wing Fook was on his motorcycle at 6.35pm at Jalan Bukit Lemon when he saw an elderly woman running after a Proton Saga Aeroback, which was reversing.
“Upon coming closer, he was told by the woman that the car was hers, leading Lee to stop the car by jumping into the vehicle and pulling the handbrake,” Muhd Zaki said to reporters in a statement today.
When the car was successfully stopped, Lee quickly dashed to the driver’s side of the car to find that the victim was on the ground and the suspect was out of the car.
Muhd Zaki said Lee held the man before contacting the police and ambulance.
The suspect, a 44-year-old former security guard, was surrendered to the police while the victim was sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital here.
Muhd Zaki said the victim was in a stable condition after sustaining injuries to the back of her head with several scratch marks on her hands and legs after being dragged.
“We commend the complainant as his act is courageous and commendable. The police are appreciative of his services.”
A police report was also lodged by the Judo instructor with the case to be investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for grand theft.
Record checks discovered that the suspect had one history of robbery under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
