JKDM Seizes 722 Kg Of Drugs Worth RM42.9 Mln

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) seized various types of drugs weighing 722.9 kilogrammes (kg), with an estimated value of RM42.9 million, through raids at four separate locations in Selangor in July.
Its director-general, Datuk Seri Amran Ahmad, said that the seizure involved drugs such as cannabis flowers weighing 212 kg, ketamine (505.6 kg), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDMA) (3.3 kg), and methamphetamine (two kg), which are believed to have been for the European market.
He said that in the first case, his team found 197 transparent packages containing cannabis flowers weighing 51.4 kg valued at approximately RM4.11 million, in a warehouse in Meru, Klang, on July 7.
"The drugs were hidden in a commercial box mixed with chili paste, disposable diapers and dry food. The second case involved a raid on a house in Bandar Botanic, Klang, which uncovered 153 packages of the same type of drugs, on July 8," he said at a press conference here today.
He said five suspects were arrested in the raid, but only one of them was charged with drug trafficking.
He said that a special operation on a parcel at the Pos Malaysia International Hub, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang, led to the arrest of two men in Ampang, based on the address on the parcel.
"The inspection found that the package contained 3.3 kg of MDMA and two kg of methamphetamine, with a total value of RM587,500," he said.
Meanwhile, Amran said his team also seized 119 packages containing 505.6 kg of ketamine worth RM25.28 million, which were hidden in cocoa powder in a warehouse in Section 27, Shah Alam, around 3.20 pm on July 21.
He said that this was the result of information received from the Directorate General of Narcotics Control, Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia.
