Anyone noticed the price of gold per ounce? at this time, the current price for gold per ounce is at $555.60. It had tumbled from the peak of $730 per ounce it was at only last month. That's about a 22% decline in the value of gold till date. This could very well be the reason why some of the bigger surf site have went cashrupted.
If anyone had notice, for the month of March all the way to mid May, there was a sudden influx of surf sites. Many were paying fast and good money. Most of these surf sites used E-Gold as their primary payment processor. this will obviously mean they are susceptible to the fluctuations in the price of gold. Not that anyone was complaining. Majority of the members in any autosurfs till date have and utilise the E-Gold system too. So admins and members alike were just as happy to use E-Gold. Furthermore, the price of gold was climbing. Sometimes, by more than $5 in a day.
With a 22% drop in the price of gold, you are gonna get burned quite badly. Say you are an admin who has been paying fast and good. More and more members upgrade in larger amounts. So let's say your E-Gold reserves are at about $500,000. Let's minus 22% of that value due to the drop in price of gold. You wanna do the honours or should I? ok, you end up with $390,000 worth of gold left in your account. you just lost about $110,000 in a 4 week period. How are you gonna continue paying your members?
